The panelists in this plenary were involved in the development of a training program for IU Health entitled “Team Based Spirituality.” The goal of this curriculum is to build teams of spiritual generalists and spiritual specialists to provide thoughtful spiritual care to patients in their various interactions with the healthcare system. The goal of “Team Based Spirituality” is to develop a robust approach to allow interfaith collaboration that does not reject the distinctives of the individual but fosters shared skills that allow those from different faith backgrounds to partner together to provide robust spiritual care. The
goal is to highlight the importance of every individual, regardless of role or profession, in addressing the spiritual distress of those suffering from illness or disease. In this session, the curriculum will be highlighted and used as a catalyst for conversation
around team based spirituality. This session will highlight the conference theme by demonstrating the importance of collaboration and distinction to bring coherence and healing through spiritual care in healthcare.
