Exile and Altar: Poems for Lawndale
An anthology of prose and photography that reimagines the Kingdom possibilities in North Lawndale and Little Village, two neighborhoods in West Chicago. The collection employs the journey of Abraham as a biblical template to explore themes of belonging, displacement, and beauty. McCurdy, a poet, and Barrios, a photographer, display the power of partnership in joining their artistic abilities, and they invite theologians, artists, and healthcare professionals alike to re-envision the spaces of your everyday. (To note, Exile and Altar is currently in an editing phase before publication. However, physical copies of the current draft will be available to view at the lunch.)
